The lowest point and the water purification plant.
The lowest point
The lowest point arose in the reclamation of the Zuidplaspolder in 1841.
In September 1986 by the Survey Department of State Water the location of the point of the Netherlands lowest measured.
Located at 51 59’13’’noorderbreedte, 4 38’ 91’’oosterlengte. And has a height of 16, 74 meters below normal Amsterdams level (NAP).
This NAP is consistent with the average water level of the North Sea. At 19 June 1995 said the minister traffic and water, Miss A. Jorritsma-Lebbink the measured point official lowest point of the Netherlands.
Mr BC van Vliet has created the monument to show where the lowest point. At 18 April 1998 this monument was unveiled by the Commissioner of the Queen in South Holland Mrs JM Leemhuis Stout.
The water purification plant
In WWTP Short North is the wastewater discharged from the town the municipality: Bleiswijk, Zevenhuizen- Moerkappele, Moordrecht and Nieuwerkerk Aan Den IJssel.
The drainage of the new housing Rotterdam, Nesselanden, Wadinxveen en Gouda- West is connected to the WWTP Short North.
Purification
1: If the water is first entering the number m3 waste water per hour arrives measured.
2: then the gross parts, such as wood and plastic, taken out by a grid. Is also measured how dirty the waste water. The treatment is adjusted to the measured pollution levels.
3: Then slowed down, allowing the sands sinks to the bottom. The sands in a sand washer and then removed.
4: in wastewater, many micro-organisms made, wich are activated sludge bacteria that we call active sludge. Wich are necessary for water purification.
5: The wastewater and the bacteria are all the time in movement so well becomes mixed. Then is there with help of aerators oxygen in it mixture of wastewater and bacteria brought. This is the bacterial mass in state the pollution out it water to get. The bacteria and the pollution flakes together until sludge; the water is clean.
6: The clean water and the sludge go beyond to the after settle thanks. In this thanks sinks the sludge to the bottom and the clean water flows about edge to the effluent pumping.
7: The effluent pumping pumped the clean water to the Hollandse IJssel.
Before this done is the quality of the water first checking.
The purification result
What happens to the sludge?
1: The sludge contains many useful bacteria so a bit of sludge again used to purify water. The rest goes to the slibindikker.
2: the slibindikker the water from the sludge met. The water flows back to top of purification.
3. In an centrifuge is the sludge water is taken off the sludge in the centrifuge than stays the sludge. It looks like black ground. These sludge is Dan than the sludge with pump nasty the silo carry forward the sludge.
4: In the sludge silo’s are the sludge stored an pair time in the week are the in lorry stored en to the Combustor in Dorderecht brought.
5. Then is of the remains of the sludge
asvalt made. so is everything used.
Some facts…
There are sometimes dead animals in the water (and live)!
They might want to expand
There was once a fire and then all the water to the refinery pumped, that was too much and when was that water in emergency silos! These are a type of storage if too much water.
